Patsy Sweeten

Patsy Lou Sweeten of Riverton, KS passed from this life Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. She was 86.

Patsy was born March 26, 1933 in Picher, OK to Melvin and Beulah (Thompson) Perry. She had lived in Riverton since 1963 moving from Picher and Miami area. Patsy graduated from Picher High School Class of 1952. She was a well known florist working many years at Duff’s Miami Floral in Miami, OK. She was a member of the Grace Community Church in Riverton and was a former member of the Gideon’s International in Columbus, KS.

Patsy was a devoted Picher Gorilla fan and always proclaimed there was no better place to grow up than Picher, OK. Once a Gorilla always a Gorilla. Patsy loved her family. They always came first, there probably isn’t a ball park, basketball court, football field or auditorium in our area that she hasn’t been to supporting her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.








Patsy was preceded in death by her husband Bill Sweeten in 2004; they were married 52 years, grandson Joseph Merrill and a granddaughter Kelly Hatfield, her parents and 2 sisters Shirley Perry and Maxine Pace.

Survivors includes Mary Ann Hatfield and husband Mike of Riverton, KS, Brenda Jo Martin and husband Otto of Riverton, KS and Becky Scott and husband Jay of Louisburg, KS, sister Mary Jean Anderson of Broken Arrow, OK, 8 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2020 at Grace Community Church of Riverton, KS. Pastor Wes Davis will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, West of Galena, KS. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Zachery Martin, Andy Martin, Josh Merrill, Ryan Merrill, Brandon Merrill, Timmy Merrill and Tad Hatfield. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the church before the services.
