Brian Martin

(From Derfelt Funeral Home)

Brian E. Martin, age 57 of Galena, passed away at his home at 6:52 AM on Sunday, January 26, 2020 after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. This battle was an accomplishment in itself, outliving the life expectancy given to him by the doctors because of his relentless pursuit for life.

Brian was born in Colorado Springs, Co on November 25, 1962 to the union of Robert E. Martin and Florence A. (Ryon) Martin. He spent his childhood as the son of a US Serviceman, with several moves throughout the country, but spent the majority of his life in Galena.

He graduated from Galena High School with the Class of 1980. As a machinist by trade, he had worked at several area machine shops including O&F Manufacturing, William’s Machine, Hawk Engineering, and most recently Mars Corporation, retiring in 2015.

During his free time, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing, playing sports, and spending time with his grandkids. He was a life-long, hard-core Kansas City Chiefs fan, and wanted more than anything to see them go to the Super Bowl.

Brian was united in marriage with Brenda J. (Loucks) Martin on June 5, 1981 in Galena, KS. She survives.

Additional survivors include his mother; Florence A. Martin; one daughter, Brandi Frazier (husband, Jeff) of Quapaw, OK; one brother, Gene Martin (wife, Tresa) of Galena; one sister, Belinda Alley (husband, Scott) of Wyandotte, OK; and two grandchildren, Tyler Frazier and Taylee Frazier.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Martin.

Mr. Martin has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-7:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
