Ernest James Johnson, age 56, passed away at 6:50 pm, Sunday, June 23, 2019 at his home following an illness.
Mr Johnson was born February 20, 1963 in Concord, CA. His parents were George “Joe” Johnson Sr and Zora (O’Banion) Johnson. He had lived in Pittsburg the past year, moving from Liberal KS where he had lived most of his life.
As a young man, he enjoyed being around people as they worked on their cars.
Surviving are 4 brothers, Ed Maskal (Connie), Butch Maskal, both of Baxter Springs, Russell Johnson, and Greg Johnson, both of San Jose CA; and one sister, Sherri Paxson, (John), Galena.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one step-father, Arzie O’Banion.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbus, KS.
The family is extremely grateful for the love and care given Ernest by New Hope Services and Avalon Hospice, Pittsburg, KS
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Services in care of the funeral home.
