Erma Carson

Erma Lea Carson, 97, of Parsons died at 12:43 P.M., Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the Parsons Good Samaritan Society.

She was born October 11, 1921 at Welch, OK, a daughter of Charles Thomas and Ophelia Victoria (Good) Horn. She was raised at Galesburg and attended rural elementary school and then attended West Junior High and Parsons High Schools. After completing high school she attended college. She was employed as a machine operator at the former Fred Ronald Manufacturing Co. at Parsons.

On November 4, 1940 she was united in marriage to Ralph Carson at Erie. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1959.

She was a member of the Galesburg Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery work and plastic canvas art.




Survivors include: a son in-law – John Beard, of Galesburg, Kansas; a daughter in-law – Sue “Susie” Carson, of Texas; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons – Larry and Dale Carson; two daughters – Linda Beard and Victoria Toland; a brother – Warren Horn; a grandson – Frank Beard; and a daughter in-law – LuEtta Carson.

A private graveside service will be held Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Galesburg with Rev. Wayne Mason officiating. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday at the Good Samaritan Center with Rev. Vernon Norris officiating.
