Barbara Heck

Barbara Jean Heck, 86, of Pittsburg, passed away at 2:38 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the Via Christi Village, Pittsburg.

She was born June 14, 1931, at Springfield, MO, the daughter of Irving Rainey and Florence Mae (Kline) Anderson. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1949 and attended Missouri State University.

On October 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert Owen Heck at Springfield, MO. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2000.

Mrs. Heck worked as a tax preparer for H and R Block.

Membership was held in the First United Methodist Church, Pittsburg, Chapter IO; PEO, the Progressive Club. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the Red Cross and the Wesley House.

Mrs. Heck is survived by two sons, John Heck of Pittsburg, and Jim Heck and his wife, Marci of Hutchinson, KS, two daughters, Jan Eaton and her husband, Doug of Tulsa, OK, and Jeanie Carlile and her husband, Randy of Wichita, KS, one brother, John Anderson and his wife, Sharon of Port Naches, TX, one sister, Mary Curley of Richmond, VA, eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents.

A service for Mrs. Heck is set for 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2018, at the Brenner Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Mark Chambers conducting the service. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Wesley House and/or Meals on Wheels. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
