Helen Theys

Helen R. Theys, 95, of Pittsburg, passed away at 9:40 p.m., Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Medical Lodge of Frontenac. 

She was born January 26, 1922 at Frontenac, KS, the daughter of Albert E. and Lena (Anderson) Cole. She attended Frontenac Schools until the 8th grade and graduated from Pittsburg High School. 

On September 1, 1941, she was united in marriage to Emile Theys at Girard, KS. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1967. She worked for USD #250 as a cook for 29 years. She also sold Avon products for almost 50 years, and was a volunteer for the Crawford County Election Board for over 50 years. 

She is survived by a son Richard Theys and his wife Jane of Rochester, MN; a sister Pearl Martin of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren, Richard Allen Vickers, Joy Pruitt, and Jenny Miller all of Texas; 6 great grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Sharon K. Theys, three sisters Albertine Roberta Sova, Nadine Hank, and Clarice Cole. 

A funeral service is set for 11:00 a.m., Friday (July 7) at Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to SEK Humane Society.
