Clara Ryder

Clara Marie Murrill Ryder, 92, of Pittsburg, KS formerly of Arma, KS, died at 4:45 pm, Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Arma Health and Rehab in Arma, KS.

She was born July 5, 1926 in Arma, KS the daughter of Tom and Melia Grano Murrill. She had been a life long area resident moving to Pittsburg from Arma in 1949. She graduated from Arma High School in 1943.

She married Elmer Raymond Ryder on November 30, 1944 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma, KS. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1987 in Pittsburg, KS.

Mrs. Ryder worked at various businesses her entire life and retired in 1990 after working at the Census Bureau in Pittsburg for 25 years.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, KS, and the Good Sam’s Club. She enjoyed camping, bowling, gambling and bingo.

Survivors include one son Dennis R. Ryder of Pittsburg and one daughter Joyce A. Ryder Terbovich and her husband Steve of Lake Quiviria, KS, three grandchildren Brenna Gray of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Shauna Bajich and her husband Paul of Leawood, KS and Mindy Diaz and her husband Rich of Chicago, Illinois and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers Tom Murrill Jr. and Frank Murrill.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:30 pm, Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, KS with Father Jorge A. Lopez, as celebrant. The lector will be Buddy Gorentz. Organist will be Sharon Barone and two of Clara’s great-grandchildren Anna Bajich and Maia Bajich will sing Amazing Grace. Burial will be in the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive their friends from 1 to 2 pm Saturday at the church, where the parish rosary will be recited at 2pm. Pallbearers will be Steve Lucchi, Mike Forsythe, Jim Ciardullo, Paul Bajich, Kevin Smith and Francis Demott. Dinner will served following burial services at the St. Mary’s Colgan Field House by the St. Mary’s Altar Society. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Hospice or Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home. Friends may call at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S.
