Martha Neet

Martha Ann (Cao) Neet, 88 years old, of Pittsburg, passed away at 11:45 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at the Via Christi Village, family members surrounding her.

Martha was born September 3, 1929, to Joseph Marion and Elizabeth Nora (Dowell) Cao in Madisonville, KY. The family moved to Warren, AR while Martha was still in grade school. The family also lived in El Dorado, AR and Hope, AR. Martha graduated from High School in Hope, AR, at the age of 16. She moved to Pittsburg, KS, with her brother and father in 1946. She attended two years at Kansas State Teacher's College (now PSU).

While living at Goldie's Boarding House she met Jack Neet. They were married March 11, 1950. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2009.

Martha was a member of the Pittsburg Seventh Day Adventist Church for 60 years. She was very active in the church serving in many capacities. Ill health had prevented her from attending in recent years.

Martha worked for Dr. Bartolini at KSTC while she was in college. She worked for the Census Bureau in Pittsburg, KS. She was a talented and hard worker as demonstrated by her many bonus checks. She also was the secretary at the PSU Nursing Department for Dr. Cecilia Waggoner. Martha was known for her famous cinnamon rolls which she shared with many friends. Her skills as a seamstress were outstanding. She sewed for all her daughters and all her granddaughters. She was an avid reader and read her Bible through many times. She was a gardener, planting flowers in her later years. She enjoyed crafts. She accomplished a lot and will be greatly missed.

Martha is survived by six children, Judith Nash of Pittsburg, Barbara (John) Bartholomew of Hendersonville, NC, Kathleen (Llewellyn) Seibold of Traverse City, MI, Kenneth Neet of Spartanburg, SC, Barry Neet of Gardner, KS, and Robin (Jay) Humbard of Pittsburg, KS. She was a wonderful Grandma and Nana to seventeen grandchildren and two great grandsons. Grandchildren are Jeremy Bartholomew, Joshua Bartholomew, Daniel Hardin, David Hardin, Aaron Seibold, Annalisa Martins, Annika Lorenz, Jason Neet, Tori Neet, Kristin Humbard, Brandon Humbard, Raven Yotz, Lauren Humbard, Isaac Humbard, Levi Humbard, Noah Humbard and Joseph Humbard and two great grandsons, Jackson Young and Ezra Humbard. She is also survived by one brother, Dr. Jerome Cao of Redlands, CA; he was of special help and support through the years, and two nephews, Jeff Cao and Kurt Cao.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, B.J. Cao and William Cao.

A memorial service for Martha will be held at a later date. Private family burial will take place in the Frontenac City Cemetery. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com
