Betty I. Bernhardt, 95, of Cherokee, KS, passed away at 1:45 p.m., Friday, February 09, 2018, at the Via Christi Hospital, Pittsburg, KS.
She was born November 4, 1922, at Chicopee, KS, the daughter of George Henry and Harriett Sarah (Feree) Bernhardt. Betty attended local schools and graduated from Cherokee High School. She worked as a nurse's aide at the Via Christi Hospital until her retirement in 2011. Membership was held in the First Baptist Church of Weir.
Betty is survived by nieces and nephews, Larry Mishler and his wife, Nan of Garden City, KS, George Mishler and his wife, Chong of Las Vegas, NV, Diana Walker and her husband, Richard of Franklin, KS, Gary Mishler and his wife, Robyn of Afton, OK, Joyce Humble of Columbus, KS, Thomas Humble of Carona, KS, and David Humble and his wife, Colette of Columbus, KS and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Harriett A. Mishler and Dorothea Lee Humble.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at the Cherokee City Cemetery, Cherokee, KS, with Pastor Randy Woods officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, at the Brenner Mortuary.
