Jim Rhuems

Jimmy "Jim" Allen Rhuems, 81, of Pittsburg, passed away at 5:10 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2017, at his residence. 

He was born January 6, 1936, to Howard M. and Ruth D. (Pryer) Rhuems, at Pittsburg, KS. He attended local schools and graduated from College High School in 1954. Mr. Rhuems served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany for 18 months. He was Honorably Discharged in 1956. 

On August 16, 1957, he was united in marriage to Delores "Dodie" Theys in Miami, OK. She survives of the home. Mr. Rhuems worked for Dickey Clay and was a self-employed plumber for 47 years. He was trained by his brother, Milton who owned Pittsburg Plumbing. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Membership was held in the John F. Derby American Legion in Frontenac. He also served on the Rural Water District #7 of Crawford County for 17 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dennis Rhuems and his wife, Janet of Frontenac, and James "Red" Rhuems of Pittsburg, three brothers, Milton Rhuems of Pittsburg, Robert Rhuems of Pittsburg, and Warren Rhuems of Frontenac, two sisters, Ruth Hendrickson of Pittsburg, and Marilyn Buchanan of Cypress, TX, and two granddaughters, Breanna Rhuems and Brilee Rhuems and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Rhuems is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Dwain Melford Rhuems, Orville Rhuems, and Russell Rhuems. 

A Celebration of Life Visitation, will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 27, 2017, at the Christ Community Church, Pittsburg. Private family burial of cremains will take place in the National Cemetery of Fort Scott. The family suggests memorials to the Christ Community Church and/or Open Door Fellowship Church.
