Dottie Jackson

Dora L. “Dottie” Jackson, 85, of Chanute and a former Erie resident, passed away at 3:50 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 31, 1933 at Bayard, Kansas to Charles and Vergie (Daugherty) Wagner. She grew up at Moran and attended Moran schools graduating from Marmaton Valley High School in 1951.

She and Cecil Jackson were married on December 7, 1952 at Iola, Kansas. He survives of the home.

They lived at LaHarpe, Iola, Erie, Grand Lake, Oklahoma, and then Chanute. She was homemaker and lovingly raised her six children.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, growing flowers, fishing, and taking care of her home. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at their lake home on Grand Lake. She was a member of the Federated Church at Erie.

In addition to her husband, Dottie is survived by two sons, Michael Jackson, and his wife, Susan of Fayetteville, AR and Rick Jackson, and his wife, Liane of Blue Springs, MO; three daughters, Kindra Holland, and her husband, David of Erie, Robin Vogts, and her husband, Bruce of Erie, and Tammy Jackson, and her husband, Jeff of Erie; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Wilson of Lufkin, TX. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracey Jackson, on February 13, 1993; a grandson, Josh Daniels; and a brother, Bobby Wagner.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Federated Church in Erie with Pastor Mark Demas officiating. Burial will follow in the East Hill Cemetery. Friends may call the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
