John Schnieders

(From Derfelt Funeral Home)

John Edwin Schnieders earned his heavenly reward on July 24, 2020. John is celebrating the end of his suffering with Jesus, his grandparents and a host of other relatives. We, who are left behind, are grieving his absence and will miss him terribly but we are also so glad that he is no longer in pain.

John was born on June 15, 1970, in Joplin, MO, to John R. Schnieders and Marsha G. Schnieders. He was a first child and a first grandchild. He was lucky enough to have 9 living grandparents and great-grandparents. John had them all wrapped around his finger. We were fortunate enough to celebrate John’s 50th birthday in June with a family party.

John graduated from Riverton High School in 1989. He then attended Coffeyville Community College for 2 years. After graduating from Coffeyville, he worked several different jobs before working at installing satellite, cable and internet. He enjoyed all the people he met and made a lot of friends with his customers. John then worked as a shift supervisor at the Galena Pizza Hut for several years. John’s last job was as a forklift operator at Bagcraft in Baxter Springs. Ill health forced him onto disability in 2018.

John married Kelly Nichols on October 16, 1992, at Galena, Kansas. They would have celebrated 28 years of marriage this year. Kelly still survives of the home. Additional survivors include his sons, Brandon and Austin Schnieders also of the home, his parents John and MaryJo Schnieders of St. Louis and Marsha Schnieders of Baxter Springs. John is also survived by his brother Craig Schnieders (wife Terri) of Quapaw, OK, and his sister Jennifer Lyons (husband James) of Miami, OK. John had one grandson, Noah Schnieders and a “bonus” granddaughter Sophia and their mother Melissa Phillips. Melissa has been a Godsend these last several weeks with her help in caring for John. He also had several nieces and nephews. John loved each member of his family and loved it when we all got together.

Memorial graveside service will be held at 11:15 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS. Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 10:00-11:00 a.m., at Empire Mission Church, Galena, KS. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
