Delna Simpson

Delna Corriene Simpson, 91 of Baxter Springs, Kansas passed from this life on Monday, July 13, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.

Delna was born April 12, 1929 in Elida, New Mexico to the union of Claude and Nettie Ann (Meacham) Brown. Delna was united in marriage to Earnest Simpson on February 16, 1947 in Cherokee County, KS.

Delna worked many years at King Louie MFG. in Baxter Springs, before going to work at the Baxter Springs Schools in the lunch room. She retired from the Baxter School around 1997. She was known to many of the kids throughout her working career as “grandma” in the lunch room. She loved and cared for all the kids dearly. Delna was a member of the Red Hat Society and North Star Club. She enjoyed collecting dolls, sewing, crocheting, cooking and keeping in touch with family. She organized all of the family reunions each year. 








Delna is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Dennis Lee Simpson.

Delna is survived by three daughters, Linda Price and husband Frankie of Baxter Springs, KS, Annetta Toney and husband William of Galena, KS, and Gayla Kreeger and husband Steve of Galena, KS; brother, Ernest Brown and wife Debbie of Crowley, Texas; sister, Betty Barrett and husband Bill of Wichita, KS; eleven grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Pastor Jeff Street will officiate. Delna will lie in state on Monday from 9:00-5:00 p.m., for friends and family to pay respects at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel.. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
