Sylvia Myers

Sylvia M. Myers, 86, of Parsons, died at 3:45 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons.

She was born January 11, 1934, at Bluejacket, OK, to Walter E. and Lela M. (Marang) Tunstall. The family moved to Parsons when she was a small child and they also lived in Colorado. She attended Labette County Community High School and moved to Fairfield, CA. Other places she lived were Touelle, UT, Vancouver, WA, and Battleground, WA before returning to Parsons in 1972.

During her adult years Sylvia had worked as a store clerk, a nurse aide at a V.A. Hospital in Vancouver, WA and at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, yard work and repurposing furniture. Spending time with her family was important to her and watching interesting cloud formations fascinated her. She also enjoyed gambling. In earlier years, while living in California, she participated in bowling leagues. During her teen years she was baptized in a church in Coffeyville.

On April 25, 1953 she and Robert Maynard Myers were married in Oswego. He preceded here in death on August 30, 1994.








Survivors are a daughter, Rhonda L. Myers of Parsons; three sons, John Cecil Marlnee of Leon, Howard Huff of Ohio and Ron Myers of the home in Parsons; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; a brother Harold Tunstall of Illinois and three sisters, Margaret Tunstall West of Tulsa, OK, Erma Tunstall Falkner of Arizona and Helen Tunstall Gaughan of California. She was preceded in death by a daughter Trudy Sillars and three sons Dan Myers, Robert Myers and Roger Myers; three brothers, two sisters, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m., Monday, July 20 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Vernon Norris officiating. Friends are invited to sign the register at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Society Activity Fund. They may be left at or sent to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
