Larry Fennern

Larry Fennern, 69, of Cherokee, KS, died at 1:40 P.M. Thursday, April 11, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, MO.

Hewas born October 5, 1949, at Pittsburg, KS, to George and Ethel (Kennett) Fennern. He attended Pittsburg Schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School. Larry then graduated from Kansas Teachers College Electrical Vocation School.

Larry was drafted in the United States Army in 1969 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1971. He was also in the Army National Guard for many years

On December 23, 1970, he was united in marriage to Julie Prewett. She preceded him in death on October 5, 1979. On August 4, 1984, he was united in marriage to Lori Hills. She survives of the home.

Larry worked for 30 years at Pittsburg State University as an electrician and in the housing and maintenance department. Larry was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed taking trips with his son. He also enjoyed camping and fishing local pits, lakes and trout fishing at Bennett Springs. He also enjoyed hunting and was proud of his military service.








In addition to his wife Lori, he is survived by a son Jeff Fennern of Pittsburg, KS; two half-sisters, Linda Waite and her husband Mike of Minneapolis, MN, and Diane Melton and her husband Scott of Minneapolis, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Julie.

Graveside services will be 12:30 P.M. Wednesday (April 17) at the Fort Scott National Cemetery with Pastor K.O. Noonoo officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to S.E.K. Humane Society and/or Salvation Army. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
