Don Vaughan

Donald King Vaughan, 78, of Pittsburg, KS, went to heaven to be with his Lord on April 25, 2019 after suffering a short illness. He was born November 22, 1940 in Joplin, MO and was the son and only child of Dr. John Paul Vaughan and Juanita (Masquelier) Vaughan.

On June 3, 1961, Don was united in marriage to Carol Sue Kelly in Joplin, MO. They later divorced. Don worked for the city of Pittsburg as the City Engineer for 44 years after graduating from Kansas State College of Pittsburg. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Pittsburg. Don also enjoyed fishing, golfing and collecting antique glassware.








Survivors include two daughters: Vicki Highfield (and husband Sam) of Eureka Springs, AR and Debbie King of Oklahoma City, OK; a son, Kelly Vaughan (and wife Marlea) of Waxhaw, NC; six grandchildren including Dustin Highfield, Samantha Highfield-Tarter, Ryann Vaughan-Owens, Nolan Vaughan, Kendall Vaughan, and Kelsee King-Bethke along with a great granddaughter Evalie Vaughan Owens. Don was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10am, Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home with Pastor Corey Estep officiating. Burial will be held at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin later that day. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8pm on Tuesday evening, April 30, 2019. Services are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home located at 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS.
