Gloria Curran

Gloria Rae Curran, 78, of Pittsburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 5, 1939, at Cherokee, KS, to Arthur Rae and Tillie (Prenk) Hogbin. She graduated from Crawford Community High School. On August 20, 1960, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Curran.

Mrs. Curran worked as a registered nurse and as a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was actively involved in the Altar Society, Birthright, Our Lady’s Sodality, and the Legion of Mary.

Gloria enjoyed gardening, genealogy, and traveling. She was also devoted to her family and her Catholic faith.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Curran of the home; three sons Patrick Curran, of Pittsburg, KS, Michael Curran and his wife Julie Maier, of St. Louis, MO, and John A. Curran and his wife J.J. O’Toole-Curran of Lawrence, KS, and nine grandchildren, Joseph, Mathew, Kristen, Kelsey, Anna, Emily, Tyler, Lauren and Robert. She was also expecting to be a great-grandmother in June.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Tresia Curran.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Michael Baldwin as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., Friday, at the Brenner Mortuary. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 7:30 p.m. The family suggests memorials to Harry Hines Hospice.
