Margaret Parsons

Margaret Jean Parsons, 95, of Chanute, KS, formerly of Cherokee, died at 7:51 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2017, at Country Place Senior Living, Chanute, KS. 

She was born December 5, 1921, at Cherokee, KS, to William and Loviere A. (Foltz) Malcolm. She attended Cherokee schools and graduated from Cherokee High School. After graduation she worked at the high school. 

On December 24, 1943, she married Jack D. Parsons Sr., at Girard, KS. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2001. She was a resident of the Cherokee area most of her life, until moving to Grove, OK, in May of 1996. Margaret Jean was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, cooking and playing cards. Membership was held in Rob Morris #74 Order of the Eastern Star. 

Additional survivors include a son, Steve Parsons and his wife Dee Ann of Chanute, KS; a grandson, Justin Parsons and his wife Elesa of El Dorado, KS; a granddaughter, Jennifer Shrum and her husband Kevin, of Chanute, KS; a daughter-in-law, Judy Parsons, and nine great grandchildren, Jake, Cody, Mallory, Macy, Graydon, Jodee, Aimee, Eleanor, and Lucy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Jack D. Parsons, Jr., a grandson, Nicholas, an infant sister, five brothers, Paul, Jake, Frank, Glen, and Jack Malcolm. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday (September 22) at the Brenner Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Cherokee City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the start of the service on Friday. The family suggests memorials be given to the American Heart Association.
