Gloria James

Gloria Valjean James, 77, of Pittsburg, passed away at 8:05 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017. 

She was born August 24, 1940, at Mulberry, KS, the daughter of Arlie and Darlene (Hartley) James. She has resided in the area for most of her life. Miss James worked as the food service manager at the Pittsburg Middle School for over 28 years before her retirement in 2010. Membership was held in the O.E.S. Hope Chapter #74 for over 50 years and the American Legion Auxiliary for over 28 years. 

She is survived by a daughter, Michelle (Artie) Pryor, four grandchildren, Jesse Pryor, Justin (Haiva) Pryor, Joseph (Haley) Pryor and Arlene (Jeff) Sayre, ten great grandchildren, one brother, Joe A. James, one sister, Crettia (Richard) Fawcett and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a son James E. Gates and her parents. 

A graveside memorial service for Miss James is set for 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2017, at the Rosebank Cemetery, Mulberry, KS, with Chaplain Dennis Uchtman conducting the service. The family will receive friends following the service until 12:00 p.m., at the cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Shriners Hospitals.
