LaVerne LaRue

LaVerne V. LaRue, 100, died at 8:52 a.m, Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons. 

She was born January 17, 1920, in Parsons, to Dessie and Gladys (Foltz) Peterson. She grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School. 

On July 3, 1940 she and Albert “Buzz” LaRue were married in Columbus. After their marriage they moved to California and lived in Burbank and Sun Valley before returning to Parsons in 1968. Buzz preceded her in death on May 26, 2006. 








After returning to Parsons LaVerne worked several years at the Broderick Co. She enjoyed baking and making fudge and doing embroidery work. She was a Jehovah Witness and was a part of the former Parsons congregation and now of the Fredonia congregation. 

Surviving are two daughters, Judy Mercado and Mary Myers (Ron) , a son, Albert LaRue, Jr. and a son-in-law, Bill Screws, all of Parsons; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson. 

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Gary LaRue, a daughter, Martha Screws, a son-in-law Ernesto Mercado, one brother and four sisters. 

The service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery Patio. Burial will follow in the family lot. Friends may call at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 1 p.m., to 5 p.m., Sunday.
