Ernestine Kunshek

Ernestine Martha Kunshek, 86, of Girard, Kansas, died at 5:58 p.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2020.
Ernestine was born February 6, 1934 at rural Walnut, Kansas, a daughter of Elmer and Emma (Wiechert) Reith. She graduated from Girard High School. 

Ernestine married Raymond Kunshek on November 21, 1953 in Girard. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2010. 

Ernestine and Raymond made their home on the family farm north of Girard, where she was a farm wife and later worked in the clerical departments at Mt. Carmel Medical Center and SEK Community Health Center. 








She was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Bethany Club, United Farm Wives, and a 4-H Club Leader.
Ernestine enjoyed her family, her faith, reading, playing cards, crafts, and baking. 

Survivors are daughters, Diana Henderson (Don) of Springfield, Missouri, Connie Murphy (Brent) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Alice Miller (Don) of Olathe, Kansas; sons Chuck Kunshek of Girard and Bill Kunshek (Susan) of Girard; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Dolores Stolte of Overland Park, Kansas. 

Ernestine was preceded in death by a brother, Haward Elmer Reith. 

Private family funeral services will be Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard with Pastor Mark Wenzelburger and Vicar Jaron Melin officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at rural Hepler, Kansas.

Friends may call from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church. These may be left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
