Lillys Clugston

Lillys May Clugston, 91, of Pittsburg, formerly of Cherokee, KS, died June 5, 2017 at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, KS.

She was born September 23, 1925 in Joplin, MO the daughter of Walter Lee and Sylva Maxton Wisby. She had been a resident of Pittsburg 21 years, moving from Cherokee, KS.

She married Chester Clugston on June 21, 1946 in Coffeyville, KS. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1996.

Mrs. Clugston was a homemaker and mother for most of her life.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Pittsburg and a 50 plus year member of the Cherokee Order of the Eastern Star and the Kent Chapter #117 of Weir, KS.

Survivors include one son Chester Lee Clugston and his wife Paula of Grove, OK, three daughters Debby Kay Johnson and her husband Hoyt of Chicopee, KS, Mary Beth Heiskell and her Fiancé Bruce VanSlyke of Parsons, KS, Janie Thompson and her husband John of Ozark, MO, 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chester, two great-grandchildren and her twin sister Phillys Ambler.


Memorial services will be 2 pm Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home & Crematory, 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, with the Rev. James Sukraw, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Cherokee City Cemetery in Cherokee, KS. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Friday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Via Christi Village, Avalon Hospice and Bath-Naylor Funeral Home for their excellent care.
