Thomas “Tom” Paul Poznich, Sr., 65, of Pittsburg passed away at 7:15 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at his home.
He was born July 20, 1951 at Pittsburg, the son of Paul Edward and Juanita Ann (Quarton) Poznich. He attended Weir grade school and graduated from Southeast High School in 1969.
On November 24, 1972, he was united in marriage to Linda Kay Forbes at Countryside Christian Church in Pittsburg. While they were dating, he attained his pilot’s license, flying for several local businesses for a total of forty-five years. For the last 20 years, he has been the Chief Pilot for Miller’s Professional Imaging. Membership was held in the Masonic Lodge No. 274 of Weir, Scottish Consistory of Fort Scott, Mirza Shrine of Pittsburg and the Kent Chapter #117, Order of Eastern Star of Weir.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Poznich of the home; two sons, Thomas Paul Poznich, Jr and his wife, Kari of Gardner, KS and Joshua Alan Poznich and companion Kandris Toth of Pittsburg; seven grandchildren, Korbin, Jackson, Grant, Kennedy, Blakeslee, Lexi, and Kara; and two brothers, Charles Robert Poznich of Miami, OK and George Alan Poznich of Weir. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday (Jan. 24) at the First Church of the Nazarene, Pittsburg with Rev. Jim Sukraw officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Private family interment of the cremains will be at a later date. The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Hospice or Shriners Transportation Fund. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
