Bonnie Lou (Haner) Standley, age 82 of Galena, passed away at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO on January 12, 2017 at 12:19 PM.
Bonnie was born at the Haner Home on 20th Street in Galena on July 14, 1934. Her parents were Ralph Harlow Haner and Blanche (Moody) Haner. She graduated from Riverton High School with the Class of 1952. After graduating high school, she married Leonard Walter Standley on December 20, 1952, a ceremony that took place in the same home that she was born in. They lived in Port Hueneme, CA for 25 years before moving back to the Galena area in 1989.
Bonnie was a homemaker, a mother, and the “Yard Duty Supervisor”. She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Galena for many years, serving for a short time as Sunday School Teacher, and for many years as the Treasurer of the Open Bible Sunday School Class. She also served as PTA President while all of her children went through school over a period of several years.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, on May 3, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her father, Ralph Haner (1984); her mother, Blanche Haner (1991); as well as 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Darrel Standley (wife, Christine) of Pewaukee, WI, and David Standley (wife, Dawn) of Santa Maria, CA; four daughters, Cindy Woolston of Baxter Springs, KS, Cameron Hay (husband, Jeff) of Galena, Cathy Fuerte of Galena, and Connie Lasky (husband, Ian) of Apple Valley, CA; 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren who lovingly refer to her as “Grandma Great”.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Carey Haner will officiate. Pallbearers will be Eric Hernandez, Brandon Hay, Kyle Hay, William Woolston, Corey Tucker, and Reuben Paddock, with honorary pallbearers Jeff Nester, Brian Kuhn, and Jose Hernandez. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery, Galena.
The visitation will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 6-7:00 PM.
