After her discharge, she married fellow marine William Arnold Williamson and attended Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville, Texas. Later, Eva earned a Masters Degree in Library Science at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She lived in Alaska and several locations in California as she raised 8 children and worked as a teacher in California schools.
Her children remember her interest in collecting local native artifacts and jewelry along with her enthusiasm for celebrating Christmas with a feast of the children’s favorite foods on Christmas Eve and the special knitted stockings she created and stuffed each year for their pleasure. Following her retirement from teaching, Eva moved to Arizona where she enjoyed round dancing, mah-jong, quilting, traveling abroad, and collecting Native American jewelry with her husband Frank Kreisher. They loved their time at La Posada, an elegant progressive care facility and although they moved briefly 3 times to North Carolina to be near children and grandchildren, the joy they found in Arizona always pulled them back.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday at the Girard Cemetery with Pastor Kent Dorsey officiating. Military Honors will be given by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Parsons, Kansas. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Cards of condolences may be mailed to PO Box 1395, Cary, NC 27512 or left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
