L.(Leona) Jean ( Buffington) O’Donnell of Lenexa, Ks. passed away on Tuesday January 8, 2019 at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 12th at 11 AM at the Bath Naylor Funeral Home, Park and S. Broadway. The family will receive friends at 10 AM. Jean’s ash's will be interned in a private service at a later date in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg, Ks.
L. (Leona) Jean O’Donnell was born November 1, 1945 at home in Frontenac, Ks. She was the 6th of 12 children born to Lester and Lucille Buffington. She grew up in Southeast Kansas attending schools in Arcadia, including Arcadia High School, before graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1963.
She married Charles Hines upon graduation and was the mother of three daughters, Deanna ( Hines ) Jameson of Cherokee, Ks., Barbara ( Hines ) Taylor of Pittsburg, Ks., Heather ( Hines ) Bowers of Valley Center, Ks. She was employed by Dr. Vernon Berkey, M.D. in Pittsburg, Ks.
On July 3rd, 1986 She married Ed O’Donnell and moved to Topeka, Ks. She was employed as Business Manager for Dr. Scott Hamilton, D.D.S.-M.S.D. before retiring in 2005 and moving to Lenexa, Ks.
She is survived by her husband Ed O'Donnell of Lenexa, Ks., her 3 daughters, three sisters Patsy Hanson of Frontenac, Lynn ( Jim ) Giordano of Arma, Jo Ellen Peterson of Frontenac, two brothers Richard Buffington of Frontenac, Russell Buffington of Ashland, Mo., 6 Grand Children, and 4 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Kyle Jameson, six brothers John Buffington, Ed Buffington, Alvin Ray Buffington, Tom Buffington, David Buffington and Mike Buffington.
The family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association
