Collette Nolan O’Malley passed away on January 8, 2019 at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, KS. She was born on March 3, 1931 in Silver Lake, PA to Michael and Mary Erskine Nolan. She was proud of her grandchildren and Irish heritage, and was known for her quick wit.
She was a graduate of St. Paul’s High School in Binghamton, NY. She worked at a variety of retail businesses and was a copy editor for Link Aviation Devices until her retirement.
Collette married Hank Steinmiller; they later divorced. She later married Patrick O’Malley, who predeceased her in 1991.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother James Nolan, sisters Joan Avon and Esther Nolan, and brother Gerald Nolan.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: H. James and Christine Steinmiller, Union Hall, VA; Jeffrey Steinmiller and Kathleen Flannery, Pittsburg, KS; and Thomas and Karen Steinmiller, Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tommy Steinmiller, Salt Lake City, UT; Casey Steinmiller, Pittsburg, KS; Kyle Steinmiller, Pittsburg, KS; Jessica Steinmiller, Raleigh, NC; and honorary grandchildren Max O’Connell and Gus O’Connell, Cortland, NY; and special nieces Diane Cartier, West Palm Beach, FL and Candy Kelly, Oswego, NY.
Collette was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Fr. Bob McElwee will pray the Rosary at 6:30 pm on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway Street in Pittsburg, KS. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund, Pittsburg State University Foundation or Harry Hynes Hospice in care of Bath-Naylor.
