Christopher Scott "Chris" Dixon, age 63, of Galena, Kansas, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, June 7, 2020, at home.
Chris was born June 30, 1956, in Whittier, California, to Raymond Charles and Alice Marlene (Scott) Dixon. He moved to the family farm north of Riverton, Kansas, when he was two years old. From that point, he lived in the Riverton area his entire life. He attended Riverton schools and graduated from Riverton High School in 1974.
On March 6, 1981, he was united in marriage to Robin Johnson at Bethel Community Church, Baxter Springs, Kansas. To this union, two children were born, Caleb and Chelsey.
Chris was a fifth-generation farmer on the land homesteaded by his family in the late 1860s. Farming was his passion and all he ever wanted to do. He worked in construction and was a member of Carpenter's Union Local # 311. He also served a term on the Cherokee County Commission in the early 1990s.
Chris was a strong believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and was active at Trinity Worship Center in Baxter Springs, Kansas.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife Robin, of the home; one son, Caleb (Niki) Dixon of Pittsfield, Illinois; one daughter, Chelsey (Jeremy) Beck of Riverton, Kansas; one sister, Beth Uhler of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Greg (Lorrie) Dixon of Cameron, Missouri; six grandchildren, Rimingtyn, Kamdyn, Bradyn, and Charlestyn Dixon, and Josiah and Olivia Beck; several nieces and nephews.
A public memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2020, at 10 am on the family farm, one mile west of Hwy 69/400 on Clem Road, one-quarter mile south on SE 60th St.
