Margaret L. Wheat, 97, of Pittsburg, passed away at 5:42 a.m., Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Via Christi Hospital.
She was born April 1 1921 at Monmouth, Kansas, the daughter of Earl and Evelyn Sale. She graduated from McCune High School in McCune, Kansas.
On October 7, 1945, she was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Wheat at Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1996.
During World War II, she worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Kansas.
Membership was held in the South Broadway Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Dwayne Wheat and his wife, Jan of rural Girard, KS; a granddaughter, Angie Baker; and three grandsons, Kenneth and Adam Baker and Lucas Dean.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Ronald Wheat in 1978, and a brother, James Sale.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 23) at the Garden of Memories Cemetery with Rev. Dan Moss officiating. Burial will follow. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where friends may call after 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the American Diabetes Association. These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
