Noel Dean Arnold, 83, passed away on November 15, 2018 in Joplin, MO surrounded by family. He was born June 28, 1935 in Pittsburg, KS to Lester Dean and Beulah (Lennox) Arnold. He married Billie Irene Wood on October 14, 1955. Noel spent 35 years working at Oldham’s Dairy, exemplifying an unrivaled work ethic. On Sunday mornings he could be found in church and, in his spare time, seen cheering on the Jayhawks, Royals and Chiefs from his armchair.
His passion for Kansas sports was only outdone by his love for his family. He always made time to impart important life lessons, such as just smile and nod. However, the greatest life lesson was shown more than spoken. Noel spread light and positivity to all those in which he came in contact, be it a kind smile or a witty joke. He made all his grandchildren feel loved and special, ending every good-bye with “Love you most”. We find solace knowing he now spreads the same light to heaven that he exuded to the world. We will love him forever and remember him always – love you most!
He is survived by his wife, daughters Nola Coltharp and Allison Jo (Jody) Arnold of Pittsburg, a son, Edward Arnold and his wife Linda of Overland Park, one sister Ona Mae Clegg and her husband, Charles of Ponca City, OK, one brother Charles Loren Arnold and his wife Elaine of Tulsa, OK; five grandchildren, Angela Coltharp, Tamara Coltharp, Derek Arnold, Michelle Arnold and Emily Arnold. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Lou McCarthy.
Funeral service will be Monday, November 19, 2018 at 10:00 am at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Pastor Pat Nixon officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the First Christian Church and/or The Lord’s Diner.
Friends may drop off or mail memorials to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg, KS.
