Bill Marquardt

Billy D. “Bill” Marquardt, 84, of Parsons, died at 8:15 p.m., Friday, November 23, 2018 at Elmhaven East Nursing Home.

He was born on December 8, 1933 in Longton, Kansas to William and Oletha (Adams) Marquardt. Bill moved with his family to Parsons when he was eight years old and attended Parsons Schools. After high school he was in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956. 

Bill worked for Boeing Aircraft as a Jet Engine Mechanic from 1957 to 1970, the MKT Railroad as a switchman from 1970 to 1991 and after retirement as a part-time mechanic at Harper’s Automotive.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Erie where he served as an Elder and taught adult bible classes. He loved Jesus, his church and reading God’s word every day. He especially loved his family and spending time with them. Bill also enjoyed woodworking.

Bill and Joan (Lyles) Milliner were married on August 11, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Parsons. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Bradley Marquardt of Parsons and Mark Marquardt, and his wife, Kim of Parsons; seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Marquardt, and his wife, Pat, of Parsons and Paul Marquardt of Parsons; one sister, Dolores Stiles of Thayer. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Redstone Hoppock and a brother, Allen Marquardt.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Parsons with Pastors Jay Hobson and Jonathon Scheck officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery with Military Honors given by Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
