Katherine “Katie” Moses, 94, longtime Parsons resident, died at 12:45 a.m., Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Elmhaven Nursing Home in Parsons.
She was born November 21, 1923, at Erie, KS, to Vernon and Flossie (Morgan) Richardson. She attended St. Paul High School. On December 24, 1942 she and James Moses were married at Girard and have observed nearly 76 years of marriage.
Katie was a beautician for 53 years, operating a beauty salon at her home. She and James also owned the M & M Mobile Home Court. She loved her family and enjoyed making them fried chicken dinners. Her interests over the years included antique collecting, country western dancing, quilting, exercising, and gardening. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, James; a son, Mark Moses, of Springdale, AR and two daughters, Barbara Moses Kyle, of Parsons and Shelley Moses Reed, of Denver, CO. She is survived by five grandchildren; Cole Kyle, A.J. Moses, Morgan Moses, Sam Moses, and Matt Reed and a great-grandchild; London Moses. Her sister, Vera Aronhalt, of St. Louis MO also survives. Katie was preceded in death by a son, Doug Moses, two brothers, Dave Richardson and Bob Richardson and two sisters, Audrey Tewell and Helen Peckham.
Visitation and services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 19th at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Pastor Wayne Mason officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a short service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Hospice, Parsons, KS.
