Leota McKinney

Leota Irene McKinney, on July 21, 2020, loving wife and mother of four children, left her earthly life for her eternal home at the tender age of 81 years.

Leota was born on February 10, 1939, in Euda Springs, Arkansas to Toy and Eulah Scott. 

On July 18, 1957, Leota married the love of her life, David O. McKinney in Columbus, Kansas. Together, they raised four children; David P. McKinney, Cindy L. Boettcher (McKinney), Helen I. McKinney, and Danny R. McKinney. 

Leota was a dedicated, supportive, and very loving military wife and mother. She was also a doting, loving, and involved grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was her total enjoyment. 

Leota was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, David O. McKinney; two sisters, Vera Lesjack and Betty Thomas and two brothers, Joe Dale Scott and Elroy Scott. She is survived by her four children, cousins, several nieces and nephews and a wonderful multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love for her family was deep, unyielding, and everlasting. She will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2020 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Burial will follow in the Baxter Springs Cemetery.
