Ruby Jean “Judy” Jones passed from this life on Monday, July 27, 2020 at her home in Galena, KS.
Judy was born July 10, 1934 in Drumright, Oklahoma to William and Viola (Lawson) Ellis. Judy moved to Pawhuska, Oklahoma in 1947 then to Baxter Springs, KS in 1948. She graduated from Baxter Springs High School with the class of 1952.
She worked for two insurance agencies before marrying Lester Jones in 1959. She later worked at the former McCartney’s and Ingersoll Rand Companies, retiring after twenty-five years of service. She loved music and sang with the Keenagers. Most of all, her family was most important to her. Judy attended Tennessee Prairie Friends Church.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband; parents; step-son, Gene Jones; four sisters, Nora McClure, Edna Martin, Kathleen Smith, Eva Jo Fincher; brother, Floyd Ellis; daughter-in-law, Bethany Jones.
Judy is survived by daughters, Susan Ashe (Paul) of Baxter Springs, KS; Jacqueline Jenkins (Jerry) of Riverton, KS; Sons, Stephen Hopkins (Diane) Fritch, TX, David Hopkins (Hop) of Riverton, KS, Wayne Jones, William Jones (Peggy), Robert Jones (Rosa), Finis Jones (Ann), all of Galena, KS, Mark Jones of Riverton, KS; daughter-in-law, Carole Jones of Houston, TX; Along with twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2020 at Tennessee Prairie Friends Church. Pastor Dave Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lowell Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m., at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Mask are recommended for the visitation and funeral services. Memorial donations may be made to USD 404, (Lester Jones Softball Field) in the memo and in care of the funeral home. Pallbearers for the service will be grandson’s, Michael Jones, Kenneth Jones, Danny Jones, Chris Hopkins, Derrick Ashe, Jared Jenkins.
