Shirley Jean Swallow, 65, of Pittsburg, passed away at 7:31 p.m., July 17, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO.
She was born November 15, 1952 at Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Lyle and Dawn Christensen. She graduated from Baldwin Park High School in California in 1971.
On May 18, 1985, she was united in marriage to Terrance Swallow at LaCygne, Kansas. He preceded her in death November 16, 2014.
Survivors include two daughters, Amy Bartley and Tina Vanderpool; three sons, Ryan Bartley, Terry Swallow and his wife, Tina, and Chris Swallow; three sisters, Linda Marrero and her husband, Raymond, Arlene Boatman and her husband, Dale, and Robin McCracken; and six grandchildren, Christopher Bartley, Jonathan Bartley, Breanna Swallow, Ashleigh Swallow, Brandon Swallow, and Devin Swallow and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, her husband, Terry Swallow, and brother-in-law, Danny Swallow.
She was loved by her family.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2018, at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Friday. Private burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to themselves to cover various expenses. These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
