Ragena F. Bone, 91, of Parsons, died at 5:50 A.M., Thursday, September 06, 2018 at the Elmhaven East Nursing Home.
She was born April 15, 1927 at Chicago, IL, a daughter of Charles and Stella Mae (Gay) Carter. In her early childhood her family moved to Oberlin Kansas, then to Norcatur Kansas, then to Dodge City, Kansas where she graduated high school. After completing high school she moved to Boulder, Colorado where she attended college. Then she lived in Great Bend Kansas, then moved to Sterling Colorado and after all her children were raised she moved to Topeka, Kansas in 1980. She came to Parsons in 1984. She worked in nursing homes in Colorado, Topeka and Parsons and most recently was employed at the Labette County American Red Cross office at Parsons.
Ragena was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. She enjoyed woodworking, painting, crocheting and plays. She also enjoyed art classes that were given at the Labette Community College.
Survivors include two sons and daughters in-law, Ronald L. and Pat Bone, of Carbondale, Kansas and Steve Bone and Dina Hess of Parsons, Kansas; two daughters, Sharon “Sherry” K. Peavler of Parsons, Kansas and Linda M. Bone-Carter of Parsons, Kansas; six grandchildren, Michelle Bloomer of Kansas City, Kansas, Jedidiah Riley of Wamego, Kansas, Brian Bone of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Steven Hess of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Susan Pena of Parsons, Kansas, Jennifer Ortega of Denver, Colorado; four great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one brother, Robert Carter of Winfield, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by one brother – Leslie Carter who was a U.S.A.F. pilot killed during World War Two and five sisters – Blanch Carter, Stella Carter, Darlene Carter, Dorothy Carter and Charlotte Mortenson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Pauline Clugston officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
