Wallace W Burke, age 87, passed away at 2:20 am Sunday, July 10, 2018 at Via Christi Hospital, Pittsburg following an illness.
Mr Burke was born June 7, 1931 in Pittsburg. His parents were Wallace F and Mina (Anderson) Burke. He was a lifetime resident of Pittsburg.
He was a Korea War veteran of the US Army, serving in active duty from 1952 – 1954. He then entered the Army Reserves until his discharge in 1960.
He was a mechanic working in the automotive industry.
His wife, Sandy Burke passed away 12 years ago. He was also preceded in death by one son, Sam Burke, his parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister,
Surviving is one daughter, Reva Meadows, Frontenac, KS; 4 sons, Mickey Burke, Danny Burke, and Willie Burke, all of Pittsburg, and Jay Burke, Olathe, KS; and 9 grandchildren.
He was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation.
His cremated remains will be buried in the Fort Scott KS National Cemetery. Military rites will be at 1:30, pm on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the cemetery.
