Steve Madison

Steven Richard Madison, 67, of Weir, Kansas passed away on June 24th, 2018 at his home and went to be with the lord.

Steve was born on September 25th, 1950 to George and Thelma (McVickers) Madison in Rockford, Illinois. He was the youngest of four children. He attended elementary school at Cherokee and later attended and graduated from Southeast High School in 1968. While at Southeast he was a 2 sport, Basketball and Football, all league athlete, while earning all-state honors and receiving a scholarship to play at the University of Kansas.

In May of 1984 he Married Kathryn Irena Geier. They lived in Weir, Kansas where they raised 2 children, Barbi & Joey, as well as Robert Spragg.

He worked for Koch Chemicals for around 30 years, while finishing his career at Jasper Products. A man like Steve can never be replaced, only remembered and respected.

Steve was a well-respected man and loved by many. Family was the most important thing to him along with values, morals, and ethics. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Royals, Chiefs, and his Jayhawks. He was an avid golfer for many years.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife Kathy of the home, Joey Ross (and Kimberly) of Weir, and Barb Middleton (and Craig) of Ormond Beach, Florida; ten grandkids, Alliah, Drew, Hannah, Jesse, Austin, Alyssa, Kaileigh, Kalee, Zack, Gavin; 1 great-grandchild Addalyn; 12 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jerry & Bob Madison, niece Kristina and a great niece.

A Memorial service for Steve will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday (June 28) at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Aaron Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10 a.m. A celebration of life is to follow at the Weir Civic Center. Side dishes are appreciated as main meal will be provided. The family suggests memorials to the United Veteran’s Fund.
