Ned Devoe

Ned Leroy Devoe, age 95, passed away at 10:02 am, Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Mercy Hospital Joplin, MO following an illness.

Mr Devoe was born June 9, 1921 in Columbus, KS. His parents were Clyde E and Marie Carrie (Childers) Devoe. He was a lifetime resident of Columbus.

He graduated from Columbus High School with the class of 1940. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Air Corp. He was a member of the Christian Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the American Legion and the Pipe Fitters Union Local 178, Springfield, Missouri. His favorite pastimes were fishing and camping also spending time with his grandson.

He worked as a pipe fitter for several years until his retirement in 1986. He was also a dairy farmer.

Ned was married to Alma Louise Hamm on Feb 15, 1947 in Columbus, KS She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, David Devoe, 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Surviving are two sons, Steve Devoe (wife, Debbie), Columbus, KS and Alan Devoe, Burlington, KS; two grandsons, Austin Devoe, Golden CO, and Ross Devoe, Houston, TX; with two great-grandchildren on the way.

Ned was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus KS for cremation.
