Frank Steven “Steve” Perry, 71, of Pittsburg, passed at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born February 19, 1947, at Oakland, CA, the son of Frank Veiril and Bernice Alice (Anthony) Perry.
He attended High School at Maryvale High in Phoenix AZ. Steve enlisted in the United States Army in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1968 at the rank of Sergeant. He pursued higher education from Pittsburg State University and graduated from with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
On May 26, 1990, he was united in marriage to Regina Lucille Burr at Fort Scott KS. She survives of the home.
Steve worked as Supervisor of Maintenance for Walmart and retired at 20 years of service. For those he worked with and regular customers alike, he could be found by just listening for the sound of him whistling away as he worked.
Steve was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and started riding at the age of 14. He could be seen any day the week riding the streets of Pittsburg throughout all the seasons of the year. He will be greatly missed by all those he helped, influenced and loved over the years. Steve will be remembered for his efforts, time and compassion spent towards his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Regina, two sons Billy Perry of Ft. Scott, KS, and D.J. Perry of Pittsburg, KS; two daughters Lindi Perry of Pittsburg, KS, and Shawna Jump and her husband Larry of Pittsburg, KS; two sisters Sue Carson of Ft. Scott, KS, and Rebecca Felt and her husband Richard of Ft. Scott KS; seven grandchildren, Lauryn Perry, Blaze Perry, Mia Perry, Kylin Perry, Kaden Krogen, Colton Jump, and Josh Jump; four great-grandchildren, Maddy Pennington, Layla Jump, Cooper Jump, and Carter Jump.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday (March 17) at the Brenner Mortuary with Reverend Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Ft. Scott National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the start of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials in the name of Angels Among Us.
