Anita Lee

Anita Felipa Lee, age 68, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 12, 2020, at her home. She was born May 11, 1951, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Andrew James Henderson and Ida Jones Henderson.

She was united in marriage to Earnest L. Lee, Sr. In earlier years, Anita had been employed by Coleman Company. She later worked at Aerosol in Neodesha, Kansas for thirteen years. She moved to Ft. Scott in 2013 to be near her family. She was a member of the Ft. Scott Church of the Nazarene. Anita did her best to live a life that showed love to others. Fishing was one of her favorite hobbies.

Survivors include her son, James Leroy Lee (Tonya), of Ft. Scott and a daughter, Shenia Maria Wolf (Eric), of Joplin, Missouri; three grandchildren and a great-grandson. Also surviving is a sister, Illana Turner, of Savannah, Missouri. Her husband, Earnest, preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, James, Leonard, Lloyd and Archie Henderson and five sisters, Daisy Cress, Dixie Miller, Maudie Shelton, Lottie Floydia and Thelma Schneider.

Rev. Virgil Peck will conduct a memorial service at 1:30 P.M. Friday, January 17th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Ft. Jerry Malone

Jerry Colleen Malone, age 76, resident of Ft. Scott, KS, died Sunday, January 12, 2020, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS. There was cremation.

Minnie Belobrajdic

Minnie Charlene Belobrajdic died on January 11, 2020 at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, KS. She was born on July 15, 1927 in Rural Pittsburg, Kansas to Henry C. C and Edith M. Utermoehlen.

She married Matthew Belobrajdic who proceeded her in death in April 2004. 

Minnie lived in and spent most of her life in Arma, where she attended and graduated from Crawford County High School in Arma and attended Business College in Kansas City, MO. 

She retired as an officer from Bank IV in Pittsburg in 1986. She spent her years of retirement working in most of all our National Parks.

Christina Sedberry

Christina Lynn Randall Sedberry 49, left her earthly home surrounded by her family Saturday, January 11, 2020 after a battle with cancer.

Born January 5, 1971 to Andy and Jane (Kinder) Randall. Christina was raised in Baxter Springs, KS graduating from Baxter Springs High School in 1989. She earned a Bachelor Degree in fashion merchandising with a minor in business from Pittsburg State University in 1993. Christina worked as a merchandising assistant at J.C. Penney for several years and then as manager of Deb’s Retail Store for 17 years.

Christina and Keith Sedberry were united in marriage on October 5, 2002 in Eureka Springs, AR. He survives of the home.

Additional survivors include her parents Andy and Jane Randall; one brother Bill Randall (Abby); one sister, Kathy Sills (Mike); mother-in-law, Retha Sedberry; father-in-law, Doug Sedberry (Karen); sister-in-law, Carrie Perryman (David); brother-in-law, Aaron Sedberry (Shelly); nieces and nephews, Jaymie Randall, Zane Roark, Ryleigh Sills, Megan and Boone Perryman.

Christina is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Clessie Kinder; paternal grandparents, James Riley and Erva Randall; Her husband’s grandparents, George and Claudette Mercer, and Elsie and Bill Keith.

Christina was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan; she had a sharp mind and enjoyed all kinds of trivia and game shows in general. As well as spending time with her friends and family.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Pastor Matt Derfelt will officiate. Burial of ashes will follow in the Ottawa Indian Cemetery Miami, OK. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Miami Animal Alliance P.O. Peggy Bennett

Jewell Lenora “Peggy” Bennett, 86, of Pittsburg, Kansas passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Via Christi Village, following an illness.

She was born July 5, 1933 in Monroe, Arkansas, the daughter of Connie E. and Lora M. (Scruggs) McGlawn.

She was a graduate from Marvell High School in Memphis and spent most of her life in the Pittsburg area.

Peggy was married to Kenneth Bennett on January 30, 1954 he preceded her in death on December 15, 2004.

She worked for the City of Pittsburg as an administrative assistant for many years. Peggy was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

She thoroughly enjoyed serving the Pittsburg community in various activities and organizations. Peggy was a member of the Pink Ladies, the YMCA Board since 1968 to present, she served on the Homer Cole Community center board, she was one of the founders of the Safe House and TOPS Ks 0599, United way, American Red Cross and she volunteered on the Salvation Army Board.

Peggy is survived by her daughter; Theresa (Jeff) Amershek of Pittsburg, Kansas; and two sons; Patrick (Cindy) Bennett of Pittsburg, Kansas, Richard (Marilyn) Bennett of Destin, Florida; sister; Shirley, two brothers; Sonny, Buddy, six grandchildren; Amy (Chuck) Simpson, Aaron (Jesse) Amershek, Jordyn (Tim) Goodwin, Beau Bennett, Broc Bennett, Bailey Bennett; ten great-grandchildren; Chantz and Cooper Simpson, Zander, Zane, Zac and Zia Amershek, Haydn, Hadley and Madisyn Goodwin, Hazel Bennett and her beloved dog Pepper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son Michael Bennett, great-granddaughter Zoe Amershek, parents, and sister Arlene.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS.

Family will receive friends Monday, January 13, 2020 from 6-8 pm at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home.

Patricia White

Patricia A. White, 74, of Frontenac, KS, passed away at 7:56 PM, Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Arma Health and Rehab, at Arma,KS.

She was born Monday, August 6, 1945, at Barton County, MO, to Walter Leroy and Mary Abbie (Ford) Main.

On May 29, 1966, she was united in marriage to William D. White at Mindenmines, Missouri, He preceded her in death on November 9, 2009.

Patricia worked as a bank teller in Pittsburg for more than 30 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Anita White of the home; a son, Bill White and his wife Jen of Frontenac, KS; a brother, William Main and his wife Virginia of Pittsburg, KS, a sister, Janice Gott of Valley Falls, KS, two grandchildren, Alexandrea Lambright and her husband LeRoy of Pittsburg, KS, and Gage White of Frontenac, KS.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, Jimmie Main, Kenneth Main, Walter Leroy Main, Jr., and Donnie Ray Main, three sisters, Peggy Chambers, Mary Lou Frayer and Gladys Elliott.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, January 13, 2020, at the Brenner Mortuary with Reverend Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will follow in the Crocker Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials be given to the Angels Among Us and/or Alzheimer’s. Betty Green

Betty L. Green, age 90 of Galena, passed away at 10:08 PM on January 6, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital of Joplin, MO.

Betty was born in Thayer, KS on October 9, 1929 to the union of Commodore Stangle and Dollie (Stringer) Stangle. She was united in marriage with Stanley L. Green on March 30, 1946 in Oswego, KS.

Betty worked as a cook at several area cafes including High Wind’s, and also worked as a cook at the Galena Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of the Galena Assembly of God Church, and in her free time, enjoyed reading her Bible, crocheting, cooking, and helping others.

Betty is survived by three sons, Terry D. Green of Galena, Tony Green (girlfriend, Diane Morrill) of Galena, and Dusty Green (wife, Barbara) of Baxter Springs; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Tedlock of Hallowell, KS, and Shirley McCleary of Miami, OK; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Danny Green; one grandson, Zachery Green; as well as two brothers and four sisters.

A graveside service will be held at Oswego Cemetery at 12:00 PM on January 10, 2020. Visitation will take place at 10:00 AM on the day of the service, and will end when we dismiss to the funeral procession. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
