Peggy Galindo

Peggy Marlene Galindo, 44, of Pittsburg, KS passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg.

She was born on September 27, 1974, the daughter of Sammy and Ileta (Wynn) Galindo.
Peggy was a housekeeper at the Lamplighter Inn and Suites in Pittsburg for 24 years and was involved with Class LTD.

Survivors include her mother, Ileta Galindo; two sisters, April Watts and Julie Bell; brother, Kevin Galindo and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Sammy Galindo.

Memorial Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS. Memorials may be made out to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge or Care to Share Cancer Support Group. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.

Jill Cole

Jill Freeberg Cole passed away peacefully at Via Christi Hospital on Sunday, November 4, 2018.

She was born on October 26, 1952 to John and Marge Freeberg. She grew up in Pittsburg and attended Pittsburg public schools. Jill returned to Pittsburg to care for her father and once again, made Pittsburg her home.

She is survived by her sister, Dee Dee Allai (Mark), her niece and nephews, Molly Bloom (Ryan), Todd Allai (Meghan) and Brandon Allai (Rachel) and great nieces, Ellie, Mia, Hayden and Emmy Bloom.

Jill is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Tish Baker and nephew, Ben Baker.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of Jill's life on Saturday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m., at Mark and Dee Dee's. Greta Dawson

Greta Sue Dawson of Miami, OK passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 at Integris Miami Hospital. She was 78.

Greta was born August 1, 1940 at Fairland, OK to James Roy and Fredda Oleta (Cunningham) Wolfinbarger. She had lived in the Miami area all of her life. She was a 1958 graduate of Miami High School.

Greta was a secretary for 40 years, working at B.F. Goodrich in Miami, Picher-Cardin Public Schools and Commerce Public Schools. She was a member of Cardin Baptist Church.

Greta was preceded in death by her daughter, Marla Sue Patterson, her parents and her brother, Glenn Roy Wolfinbarger.

Survivors include 2 sons, Richard Patterson and his wife Teresa of Baxter Springs, KS and Matthew Dawson and his fiancé Brieana Hook of Oklahoma City, OK and 8 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK with Rev. Joe Waldon officiating. Interment will follow at Council House Cemetery northeast of Grove, OK. Pallbearers will be Richard Patterson, Matthew Dawson, Matthew Alexander Dawson, Noah Dawson, Toby Miller, Greg Wolfinbarger and James Wolfinbarger. Aaron Kyle Houk and Rob Rollins will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday evening at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, OK.

Eric Hatcher

Eric Wayne Hatcher, 42, of Chanute, formerly of Parsons, died at 9:30 P.M. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Neosho Regional Medical Center at Chanute. Among survivors are his parents, Wayne and Martha Hatcher of the home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Ambassador Christian Church at Chanute with Pastor David McCoy officiating. Gayle Harrison

Gayle Duane Harrison of Miami, OK passed from this life Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was 61.

Gayle was born January 30, 1957 in Miami, OK to Henry George and Imogene (Smith) Harrison. He had lived in the Miami area all his life and graduated from Miami High School Class of 1975. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Baxter Springs, KS and worked in the Maintenance Department for NEO A&M College in Miami, OK for many years.

Gayle married Rena (McCoy) Harrison June 4, 1976 and she survives of the home. Additional survivors includes their sons Dustin Harrison of South Bend, IN and Justin Harrison of Miami, OK, 3 brothers George Harrison of Wyandotte, OK, Robert Harrison of Miami, OK and Darrell Harrison of Bedford, IN , 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Rev. Robert Harrison and Rev. Russell Presson will officiate. Colleen Dundee

Colleen Marie Dundee, 79, of Frontenac, KS, passed away at 10:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Medicalodges of Pittsburg.

She was born to on January 28, 1939, to Michael Dundee, Sr. and Agnes (Roberts) Dundee at Melrose Park, Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Girard High School in 1957, Pittsburg School of Cosmetology in 1958 and Office Training and Assessment Program at Washburn University in 1993.

She was united in marriage to Scotty Bitner in 1958, and later divorced. Colleen worked in several local hair salons in Pittsburg including the Regis Beauty Salon and Rowden’s. She relocated to Topeka and worked nine years at the State Department of Human Resources as an Employment Counselor. She accepted a position with Heartland Works as an Employment Specialist in the implementation of The Federal Workforce Investment Act where she worked eleven years until her retirement in 2009. Colleen enjoyed watching KU basketball, the Chiefs, the Gorillas, and playing cards with friends.

She was a member of the Frontenac United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women Organization and the COPD Support Group where she served as Program Coordinator. Colleen considered her greatest accomplishment was raising her children who she loved dearly.

She is survived by her three children, Michael Bitner (Lori), Frontenac; Joseph Bitner, Pittsburg; Kay Baden (Andrew) Lawrence; and seven grandchildren; Brooke Bitner, Katelyn Bitner, Joseph (Joey) Bitner, Jackie Bitner, Zach Baden, Josh Baden and Abby Baden. She also leaves her sister Eldora Dundee, special cousin Keith Dunahee and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her mother and step father Agnes and William Russell, father and step mother Michael and Jane Dundee Jr. and grandson Scotty Michael Bitner.


Cremation has taken place and no services are planned per Colleen’s wishes. JoAnn Couch

JoAnn Couch, 87, of Parsons, passed away at 2:35 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Presbyterian Manor in Parsons.

She was born on August 4, 1931 Fort Worth, Texas to Elza Martin and Lillian Lorene (Williams) Phillebaum. The family moved to Chetopa where she grew up and attended schools graduating from Chetopa High School in 1950.

JoAnn and Everett Lee Couch, Sr. were united in marriage on September 6, 1950 at Vinita, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2010.

JoAnn moved to Parsons where she worked at Adventure Line, Grandview Cabinets, and at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant from where she retired. She also worked part time at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center and for USD 503 in the middle school cafeteria.

She enjoyed reading her Bible, watching religious programs, cooking, baking, going to the beauty shop, shopping, taking care of her dog, “Corky”, and helping take care of her grandchildren. She was an active and faithful member of the Parsons Foursquare Church where she attended Sunday School.

She is survived by her son, Everett L. Couch Jr., and his wife, Rhonda of Parsons; her daughter, Debora Wolverton, and her husband, Ronnie of Parsons; two grandchildren, Greg Couch, and his wife, Talya of Parsons and Tony Caylor of Pittsburg; four great-grandchildren, Anthony Caylor, Heaven Caylor, Savannah Couch, and Lylah Couch; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Thomas Phillebaum and her sister, Opal Maxine Kellogg.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Reverend Steve Schulze officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakhill Cemetery at Chetopa. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday.
