Larry Lee Clelland, 80 of Pittsburg, KS died Friday February 3, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 12, 1936 in Hepler, KS the son of Elzy and Alice (O’Conner) Clelland.
Larry joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1958, he then served in the Reserves from 1958 to 1962.
He was of the Catholic Faith and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include a son Tom Clelland of the home and a brother Michael Clelland of Bremerton, WA along with 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lauretta Wing
Lauretta C. Wing, 74 of Columbus formerly of Weir, KS died on February 4, 2017 at the Grand Villas in Columbus.
She was born October 12, 1942 in Independence, MO the daughter of Ray and Theresa (Glasgow) Clark.
She was united in marriage to Jerry Faucett for 23 years until his death in Dec 25, 1988, she later married Hershel Rex Wing on September 1, 2001 in Weir; he survives her of Columbus.
Lauretta worked for the Parsons Ammunition Plant for several years, she also worked at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Pittsburg.
Additional survivors include a son Jerry Alan Faucett, a daughter Kim (Jeff) Crain of Columbus; a sister Rose Marlier of Mapleton, KS, a brother Raymond (Sue) Clark of Pittsburg; along with four grandchildren 3 step-grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by her parents and a sister Audrey Whetzell.
Memorial services will be 7 pm, Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 pm until service time. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Sharon Morey
Sharon D. Morey, 69, of Pittsburg, passed away at 3:46 A.M. Monday, February 06, 2017 at the Freeman Hospital, Joplin, MO.
She was born February 6, 1948 at Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of Max and Dorothy D. (Seely) Dalri. Sharon attended Pittsburg schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1966. She also graduated from Pittsburg State University with a degree in Psychology. Mrs. Morey worked at the Crawford County Mental Health as a case manager and was on the Board of Directors for SEK CAP.
She is survived by her son Shawn Morey and his wife Jenifer of Pittsburg, KS; her daughter, Patricia Norris of Pittsburg, KS; three grandsons Christopher Norris and his wife Chelsie of Lawrence, KS, Codith Norris of Pittsburg, KS, and Cyler Aikman and his wife Dessarae of Pittsburg, KS; and two granddaughters Peyton Morey of Pittsburg, KS, and Paige Morey of Pittsburg, KS. She was preceded in death by parents and a brother Michael F Dalri.
A service for Mrs. Morey will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday (February 10) at Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, with Rev. Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until service time, at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to National Kidney Foundation and/or the Pittsburg YMCA. Neil Miller
Neil Louis Miller, 76, of Pittsburg, KS, died at 7:58 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017, surrounded by loved ones at his home.
Iron Neil battled illness with courage, humor and grace over the past several years. He was born in Pittsburg on September 30, 1940, the son of Antone Joseph and Lila Agnes (Walter) Miller. He graduated from St. Mary’s in Pittsburg in 1959.
On June 20, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mary Nell Pattinson in Pittsburg. They were married for 49 years before she preceded him in death on September 13, 2011. Early in his career, Mr. Miller worked as a barber, both in Pittsburg and in Wichita, KS. He later worked for 26 years as a conductor for the Kansas City Southern Railroad, retiring in 1998. Mr. Miller enjoyed following the stock market and was an avid fan of Pitt State athletics, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and KU and K-State athletics. He loved his family dearly, and was happiest when with his eight grandchildren. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard. Membership was held in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Mark J. Miller and his wife Marlene of Wichita, KS and Eric N. Miller and his wife Kelly of Pittsburg; a daughter, Julie A. Carter and her husband Christopher of Overland Park, KS; a sister, Cecelia Zupon of Chicopee, KS; eight grandchildren, Dr. Meagan Miller (Andy Gonzalez), Rachel Miller, Stephanie Miller, Mitchell Carter, Maggie Carter, Owen Miller, Caleb Miller and Sarah Miller. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; his parents; three brothers, Joe Miller, Arthur Miller and Roy Miller; and three sisters, Barbara Sievert, Carolyn Hartshorn and Mary Ann Jones.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 9th, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with Fr. David Voss as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. A parish rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8th, at the Brenner Mortuary. The family will receive friends following the rosary. The family suggests memorials be made to the Salvation Army and/or The Lord’s Diner. Hoppie Hopkins
Roy E. “Hoppie” Hopkins passed away on February 3, 2017 at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation center.
Hoppie was born September 23, 1939 in Galena to his parents, John and Minnie (Pilkenton) Hopkins. He was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County. Hoppie married Carole Sanders Stanley Hopkins (Selsor) in 1961 and they remained married 18 years. On June 27, 1980 he married Reva Kay Poteet and they were married 36 years until his passing.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Chuck, and sisters Lucille, Nellie and Dorothy. Dorothy was instrumental in his life along with her husband Carlos "Rex" Gandy. Surviving are his wife, Reva, Riverton, KS, brother, Jimmie Dale Hopkins and wife Dorothea, Riverton, KS, daughter, Karla Stanley Avicola, Joplin, MO, son Will Mallatt and wife Alicia, Riverton, KS, son Joseph Mallatt, Galena, KS and daughter Jessica Hopkins Ashe of the home. Hoppie also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Hoppie enlisted in the US Army where his orders got mixed and he mistakenly got enlisted as a military policeman. When off-loading from the bus the Drill Instructor was shocked and surprised stating "holy cow, what are they going to send me next". Hoppie started his professional life working in construction later moving into amusements; first opening his own business, Hoppie's Amusements in Galena, KS with locations throughout the four state area. He also ran the Galena City Pool for several years and served as a Galena City Councilman. In 1988, Hoppie opened and operated Katie's Café for 8 years. In 1995, he began working for Cherokee County and retired in 2003.
Hoppie enjoyed cooking, playing his guitar, fishing, and above all spending time with his family who will miss him terribly.
Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral home, Galena, KS. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 7 at 7:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Riverton, KS. The family will remain in the chapel to receive friends following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Activities fund or the Riverton First Baptist Church.

Dwight Canady

Ferdie Dwight Canady, age 50 died at 6:50 pm, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the scene of an auto accident south of Joplin, MO.
Dwight was born August 7, 1966 in Joplin, MO. His parents are James Alvin and Joyce Joann (Cusick) Canady. He had lived in the Galena KS area all of his life.
While working at the Joplin Regional Airport, he studied to become a pilot, but was unable to fulfill all the requirements. He then began working in the area fast-food industry before becoming disabled. His favorite pastime was going to area casinos.
He is survived by his parents, James and Joyce Canady, Galena, KS; 2 nephews, 2 great nieces and 2 great-nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jamie Canady and Brian Canady.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS.

Leonard Miller
Leonard (Lenny) J. Miller 76, of Riverside, MO died 3:40am Tuesday January 31, 2017 at his home following an illness.
Lenny was born July 9, 1940 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Nicholas T. and Esta M. (Humphreys) Miller. Lenny attended area schools and was a graduate of Cherokee High School. He later attended and graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1963 and was active in ROTC. He also was on the Pittsburg State Football team from 1959-1960. Following graduation Lenny joined the Navy serving his country during Vietnam as a P3 Pilot Commander and a submarine hunter in the Mediterranean. He earned the rank of Lieutenant. After his military service he became a pilot for TWA attaining the rank of captain for 30 years.
On July 28, 1989 Lenny married Judy A Billington in Weir, KS; she survives at the home.
Lenny was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tonganoxie, KS; was known as an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, PSU Football Fan, Royals Baseball Fan and Chiefs Fan.
Survivors include his wife; sister-in-laws Martha Miller of Bristow, OK, Marie Miller of Pittsburg, KS and Carol Billington Hess of Pflugerville, TX; many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
Lenny was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Margaret Dealy, Marylyn Martin, Harold Miller, Donald Miller, Arnold Miller, Raymond Miller, Tom Miller and Lawrence (Butch) Miller.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Saturday February 4, 2017 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Goldsich as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. Family and friends will recite the rosary at 7:00pm Friday February 3, 2017 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS; family will receive friends following the rosary. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund.
